Alan Mackie
Frustrating is how we can sum up Alan, just when you thought he was getting to grips with
his Speedway, he would slip back to zero. One of the bends at the Boldon track was
nicknamed "Mackie's Corner", so often did he bite the dust in that spot.
Highlight for Alan was when he top scored for the ‘Stars’ in a league match against Long
Eaton at the Boldon Stadium, scoring 12 points, and proving that he could do it. His
average for the 1971 season was 4.42.
