Tim Swales
Former Teesside rider Tim Swales was another rider brought in at mid season to shore up
the seriously under strength team in 1974. His highlights included an epic 14 pts haul
against Boston at the Boldon track, and a 12pts top score versus Birmingham, again at
Boldon. Tim also figured with Jim Wells in that final race that clinched the points to give
us our one and only Away win at Weymouth.
Tim finished with an average of 6.77. If only Tim and Andy had been around longer! He went
on to ride for the reformed Newcastle Diamonds in 1975, along with fellow Sunderland
riders, Brian Havelock and John Robson.
