2005 Reunion
Rider wise, the turn out for our 2005 reunion was excellent, as
was the whole attendance. We were very privileged to have
Chris and Dave Morton among our guests. Chris did a book
signing for his excellent book 'Till the can ran out' very
worthwhile read, most compelling, couldn't put the book down!
Also in attendance were, Russ Dent, George Barclay, Pete
Wrathall, Brian Havelock, Andy Meldrum, Brian Johnson, Lloyd
Dobson, Graham Hartley, and Russ Hodgson, all ex-
Sunderland riders. Also among our guests were the ever
popular Pete Wigley (making the long trip up from Bognor
Regis), Dai Evans, Rob Grant snr and Rob Grant Jnr. From the
1964 team we had Ray Day who brought along Norman
Redmond, while the late Kenny Smith and Ginger Abigail again
turned out for us with the speedway bikes.
The evening was once again hosted be BBC TV reporter Jeff
Brown who held things together and did his usual fine job with
interviews etc.
All seemed to enjoy the evening, as they tucked into an
excellent buffet, while the giant raffle appeared to go on and on,
there were so many prizes. The night was rounded off with the
disco which went on until the early hours.... and we the
organisers were left knackered but well satisfied with our efforts.
